The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, Netball Australia and Netball WA direct associations as to the structure and management of Netball Competitions & Netball Participation Programs within Western Australia.  

All player, coach, umpire & manager registrations and enrolments are through your associated club’s registration links in the registration and management platform – PlayHQ.  Please contact your club directly for more information and details on registering your child/ren. 

The PlayHQ platform requires parents to register an account under their name and email. Players will then be added to the parent account to complete registration to a club.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
INDIVIDUAL ATHLETESIndividual players of any age who will be playing club or association netball as part of BNA programs (NSG, Saturday Competition & Friday Night Competition)
ATHLETES USING KIDSPORT VOUCHERSIndividuals playing netball, who will use a KidSport voucher towards their fee payment still need to register on PlayHQ

*** NOTE: There are no fees payable for non-player registrations

All competition and age restricted programs are as per the individual athlete’s age as at 31/12/2025.

Boys who are 12 and under are welcome to participate as part of the BNA competition without restriction:

  • Boys 11-12 years are able to play in the Saturday Netball Competition
  • Boys 10 years & under are able to play in the NSG Programs

At the discretion of the BNA committee, boys may play in any junior division.  Clubs are requested to lodge requests via email prior to player registration – info@bunburynetball.com.au.


  • Season length
    • Due to the court renovation project, the 2025 season has been reduced to 12 round plus finals for eligible teams
  • Grading
    • Due to court availability and a shorter season, there will no grading games for Div 1, 3, 4, 5 and Year 5 Comp.
    • Division 2 will play 3 grading rounds within the 12 round season.  They will then split into 2 divisions (2A and 2B) to play the remaining 9 rounds.
  • Fixtures
    • Fixtures are available via PlayHQ / NetballHQ. While every effort will be made to release the fixtures without any further change, BNA reserves the right to alter fixtures as needed. 
    • Players should reference PlayHQ before each game to confirm day, time and court number.
  • Registration
    • All regular season players must be registered to a team playing within the BNA competition using PlayHQ team links.
    • Teams must also register a coach and team manager.  An assistant coach can also register.
  • Single Game Vouchers are available from the BNA Office for $10.  These entitle a player to play at BNA for the date of the voucher and provide insurance for the player in the event of an injury
    • A player may purchase 3 Single Game Vouchers for a team in a season.  Following this, prior to taking the court again, the player must register to the team and pay relevant NetballAUS, NetballWA, BNA and Club fees.
  • Court Layout
    • Courts are allocated for games and cannot be changed by teams or clubs unless prior arrangements have been made with BNA committee.

    • The surface is designated by colour into three zones
      • Blue – playing court
      • Red – umpire channel
      • Gray – spectator zone
    • Team benches
      • BNA will provide one bench for each team
      • Where there is any dispute or uncertainty about which team uses which bench, the first listed team takes the bench to the left of the scorer/timer zone and the second listed team takes the bench to the right of the scorer/time zone
      • Please see the current team bench arrangement here. Due to the newness of the BNA courts, arrangements for team benches may change.
    • Scorer & Timer
      • Scorer and timer must stand together in the middle of the court on the side facing the clubroom
      • The first listed team on PlayHQ fixture scores the game
        • Goals scored by each team
        • Centre passes

      • The second listed team on PlayHQ fixture is the game timer
        • Each quarter: 12 mins
        • Minor breaks: 2 mins
        • Major break: 3 mins
      • Divisions 1 and 2 are court timed using timers
        • hold time as instructed by an umpire
      • Umpires will bring the score card to the court, and return to the office following the game
      • Divisions 3, 4 and 5 are centrally timed and do not require court timers
  • Rolling Subs
    • BNA uses rolling subs, as per NetballWA rules, for all junior divisions including Year 5 competition
    • Please used marked rolling substitution locations for player interchanges
      • A team is permitted to use 2 sets of bibs if they are exactly the same.  Where a team only has one set of bibs, these can be swapped between players but must not impact on the game
  • Playing up / down
    • Once registered into a team, players may not play down a grade or for another team in the same grade, under any circumstances
    • Players may play in a team in a higher grade
      • Once a player plays up into a team for 3 games, they are considered to be part of the higher graded team and may no long play for their original team
  • Finals Eligibility
    • A player must play 12 quarters for a team to be eligible to play in any finals rounds
  • Uniforms
    • All players taking the court must wear the official uniform of their club / team
      • Players must have appropriate footwear and undergarments
    • Players are permitted to wear layers under their uniform in club colours for comfort or cultural reasons; the uniform must be visible including a player’s bib
      • Hooded jumpers are not permitted for safety reasons
  • Jewellery and Accessories
    • All jewellery must be removed prior to players taking the court
      • Taping is not permitted
      • Claw clips are not permitted on court
    • Nails are to be trimmed short and will be checked by the umpires prior to the game
  • Canteen
    • The canteen will be open for most fixtures, however, opening hours are at the discretion of BNA
    • Teams allocated to court 7 on Saturdays are requested to provide a volunteer (or multiple volunteers across the game) to help in the canteen.
